Envato Famous Five – Marco Rubio, Sky Sharks & National Geographic

Welcome to the very first episode of the Envato Famous Five video series!

For this inaugural edition we’ve gone back to the archives and picked some of the best items we’ve featured.

Making up this week’s list:

Legacy Effects using pmwa‘s “Journey of a Lifetime

From the Iron Man suit to character design on Avatar to the Muppets Legacy Effect have done special effects for almost everything.

Including some of the most recent blockbusters including The Revenant – which Leo FINALLY won the Oscar for, Captain America: Civil War, and the upcoming Suicide Squad which I’m really excited for.

And, a blockbuster showreel needs a blockbuster soundtrack, and pmwa’s “Journey of a Lifetime” provides just that in the reel for this legendary company.

Marco Rubio using RockfordMedia‘s “Boats Passing Near the City at Sunrise

What’s the one thing you’d expect to see in a video where the slogan is “morning again in America?” Footage of America… That’s not what we saw in this ad campaign for Ted Cruz.

The failed presidential candidate neglected to notice that this video which is meant to be a throwback to Reagan’s “Morning In America” ad included several shots of a boat pulling into Vancouver, Canada, as he spoke of the choice that America had to face.

Naturally this was absolutely ridiculed on late-night TV in the U.S. with both Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert poking fun at it on their respective shows.

Bad bad exposure for a mistake by Cruz has turned out to be GREAT exposure for RockfordMedia’s VideoHive item “Two Boats Passing Near City Sunset”, which was featured in the campaign!

Sky Sharks using 333pix‘s “News Ident Pack

Put sharks, nazis and Zombies together and what do you get? A movie that’s actually happening!

Yes, Sky Sharks tells the “story” of flying sharks who were created by the nazis in order to conquer the world, whose riders are genetically mutated, undead super-humans. in a bid to prevent world downfall, a military task force reanimates U.S. soldiers who fell in Vietnam…to battle these flying nazi sharks…and save the world…

…That makes sense.

Anyway! While the plot is somewhat ridiculous, the attention it’s getting isn’t. And, that’s great news for Envato Author, 333Pix, whose VideoHive item “News Items Pack” is used in the film and trailer which has already gotten over 400 thousand views!

The film flies into cinemas in 2017.

Brace yourselves…

RoadToVR.com & VRTodayMagazine.com using tagDiv‘s “Newsmag – News Magazine Newspaper

Virtual Reality is one of the hottest trends of the moment and as a result there are a lot of new sites popping up that are dedicated to news and information about this emerging new tech.

A few of which are using Envato items!

RoadtoVR.com receives around 2.1 million visits a month and VRTodayMagazine.com is very popular as well. And, both are using Envato Author, TagDiv’s “Newsmag – News Magazine Newspaper” theme from Themeforest!

Incredible!

National Geographic using SamyBeats‘ (formerly SammyBeats) “Epic Cinematic Trailer

And finally today, National Geographic is an absolute media behemoth whose reach spans across an historic print magazine and cable tv network. And they’re also massive online!

Their YouTube account alone has almost 5 million subscribers!

Making the fact that they’ve used Envato Author, Samy Beats’ AudioJungle track, “Epic Cinematic Trailer #2” to underscore their recent milky-way timelapse an absolute coup.

As always with Nat Geo, the footage they’ve put together is absolutely stunning, and with over 100 thousands views, and the timelessness of this subject matter, it seems a great deal of people are going to come across this amazing AudioJungle track as a result.

Well done!

And that’s our very first video Envato Famous Five!

If you have an item that’s popped up somewhere famous, post it in our Envato Famous Five Submissions thread

CORRECTION: A previous version of this blog promoted the National Geographic video as using Symphony-of-Specters‘ track “Epic Cinematic Trailer 2” rather than SamyBeats’, “Epic Cinematic Trailer”.
