Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?
I am from Bangladesh and I come from a Physics background. I started my career as a freelancer in RentACoder. Then I started learning from Lynda and TutsPlus and tried creating CodeCanyon items. After my CodeCanyon item was approved, I switched to working full time on Envato Market.
Now I have a team with seven members and we are earning by creating items for ThemeForest and CodeCanyon!
What do you love about your work and why?
I love programming and I love to do coding. I try to do the things that I feel comfortable with and never try to do all things myself. I work hard to make my dream products and each time, I try to focus on a particular area, which solves a customer problem. When I reach the final outcome or product, it feels good that I can bring that idea to life.
To what do you attribute your success – how is your business unique?
We mainly work in PrestaShop which is a very difficult CMS – we try to solve the toughest areas of PrestaShop development and make it simple for the user. This helps us to grow in the market and makes us more unique than others.
What’s the most challenging thing about your work?
It can be challenging to compete with authors all over the world and keep updating our work. To maintain a team, it’s important to be innovative and update my knowledge in technology all the time.
What are some of the biggest lessons that have impacted your work?
Since I started my career as a freelancer, I haven’t had the opportunity to work in a corporate job or a role that would help me learn more about team management and building corporate culture. It’s important to seek this knowledge and experience when managing a team.
What or who inspires you and why?
ThemePunch and Themezilla’s Orman Clark inspires me to go forward in the market. Their creative work and success inspired me and I have a dream one day that I will become a Power Elite author like them.
ThemePunch is also our favorite marketplace author because they try to do something special, which others are not able to do.
What’s your most memorable client/customer story on Envato?
There was a customer who purchased a Prestashop CMS and initially provided us with a 5 star rating, however, he then became angry with our support team and provided 1 star. After a few days I managed the situation by providing good support and we were able to get a 5 star rating from him. It’s important to always provide high quality support.
What is your advice to other authors regarding how to create a successful portfolio?
Focus on a good product and always respect your client. Customer support is also one of the most valuable parts of any business/service.
How do you balance work and family life?
These days, I always try to be strict with my office hours and go home after I’m finished at the office – but during earlier stages of the company, this was very difficult for me – day to night I was coding and coding.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Reciting the Quran and coding analysis for generating new ideas.
What are your plans for the future?
