Not sure how to put your best foot forward with your Elements application? Well, we have a dedicated Author Success team here at Envato and we’ve prepared an ongoing series to help you navigate the basics of getting started on Elements. So let’s dive in!
You might have heard of a short application form that Envato uses to get to know you better and the types of items you’d like to submit to Envato Elements. This is because we pride ourselves on Elements being a curated platform with high quality and authentic content.
With that in mind, we’ll take you through the 5 steps of the form and offer some useful tips on how best to submit your application!
1. Account Creation
Before you can access the form, you will have to sign up for an Envato account first. The great thing about having an Envato Account is that it can be used to log into all your Envato platforms, especially your Envato Market and Elements accounts later down the track.
Hooray to only remembering one password!
2. Choose Your Specialty
Now you might be thinking, “wait a minute, I specialise in many content types but it’s only allowing me to choose one.”
All we can say is, don’t stress.
Unlike Envato Market, Envato Elements works a little differently and requires a separate expression of interest form for each item type you would like to sell.
Once you become an Author on Envato Elements, you can always come back to this form and submit for another content type.
3. Choose Your Portfolio Size
It’s important not to feel intimidated by these portfolio size numbers.
We know it sounds much cooler to say you have a lot of items, but it’s important to note that the answer to this question will not affect your outcome in any way. It’s purely for our reporting purposes, so we know how many items you would like to submit and we can be ready for them!
4. Choose Your Best Work For Review
As you may have already guessed, this step is the most crucial of them all. Here’s the part where you show us the recent work you’re most proud of and impress us with your talent.
To make it a little easier to read our minds, here are a few things we’re looking for:
- Links to your content from any platforms (example: Pond5, Shutterstock and Google Drive).
- A curated portfolio with some of the items you would submit to us if you were successful (your links can include single or multiple examples of your work).
- Our reviewers look for professional, high quality content that references current & modern trends.
- Your items can be classified under universal subject matters (such as Nature, Sports, Finance etc.)
5. Finish and Submit
Once you’ve submitted your form you can sit back and relax, we will be in touch within 14 days.
If you’re successful, Congratulations! You can now move on to the second review stage.
If your application wasn’t approved, you’ll receive an email letting you know. But don’t be disheartened. We encourage you to have a look at what types of content the review team at Envato is looking for and have your portfolio of items ready to submit. We have great Tips for a successful Elements Application and an awesome Help Centre, or if you would like to get in touch with us directly please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
